    I've been here a few times after wondering about Charlie's for years and have enjoyed it every time. It is a comfortable space that feels like it has something for everyone.     Awe what a fun spot to stumble upon in Portland. We had a great morning exploring and wanted something simple to take back to our hotel room. Wow this deli! They don't make sandwiches like this anymore. Just scrumptious. The place is kinda divey and frozen in time. Enjoyed a cherry cream soda while we waited for our sandwiches. Then my daughter insisted we sit fine at the picnic table outside and enjoy our Sandos outside in the sunshine.

    Ever wonder what it feels like to eat a sandwich that's bigger than your head? Then you are at the right place with Charlie's Deli, where the portions are gigantic, and the prices are equally monumental (but worth it IMO)! I ordered for delivery and got the Italian sandwich which was basically an entire Italian Market into a delicious St Honore Bakery Baguette. Salami, Mortadella, Pepperoni and enough provolone to make a cow blush. It's a two-handed, two-napkin affair that left me in a blissful meat-and-cheese coma. Seriously, I needed a nap afterwards. My partner got the Chipotle Turkey Bacon Avocado sandwich - Imagine a turkey got lost in a spicy forest and decided to bring back a souvenir for you. Smoky, spicy, and so packed with bacon and avocado that my taste buds are still doing a happy dance. Again, the size of a small mountain. Yes, the prices are steep, but honestly, you're getting two meals in one. Go for the half sandwich if you aren't trying to get crazy on portions Sides are standard - Skip the German Potato Salad - unless you are into warm dill and potato then go for it So, if you're in Downtown Portland and feeling both hungry and adventurous (with a wallet to match), Charlie's Deli is the place to go. Just maybe bring a friend to share

    I just ate some incredible sandwiches! Got their corned beef sandwich on rye and their strawberry fields sandwich. Both of them were delicious. The strawberry fields was incredible! It's their new sandwich and it definitely didn't disappoint. Also got the tiramisu and brownie. These were also tasty. The tiramisu tasted like something my Italian grandfather used to make. The brownie was soft and chewy. The sides were alright. The German potato salad was alright but didn't have the traditional flavor. The pasta salad was just pasta with pesto. Ok but not a focal point. This was for takeout. In general the place looked cool. Prices are a tad on the higher side but well worth it.
